Today marks one year since I launched my LinkedIn newsletter, Hezron’s Weekly Insights, which later evolved into the blog Hezron Insights.
It has been an amazing journey. With over 19,500 readers, my newsletter has become one of my proudest professional achievements. Through it, I’ve shared insights on personal branding, workplace resilience, leadership, empathy, and storytelling in public relations.

A Dream Rooted in Experience
My public relations career officially began in 2015 when I transitioned from journalism to PR. From the start, I dreamed of owning a personal blog — a space where I could share what I’ve learned, both professionally and personally.
I did try launching a blog years ago, but I wasn’t ready. The costs, the technical maintenance, and the time commitment overwhelmed me. After a few posts, I shut it down before it could reach its first anniversary.
But everything changed in 2022 when LinkedIn introduced its newsletter feature. It gave professionals like me a platform to write and grow without the logistical burden of managing a website. Fast forward to today, and this marks my 56th edition, and I’m still going strong.
Earlier this month, I attended a Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) conference. To my surprise, several people in the audience said, “We know you—we read your content.” I was humbled. That moment reminded me how a simple digital platform can elevate your brand visibility and professional influence.
Now, every time I meet colleagues or friends, the first thing they ask is, “What’s coming up in your next issue?” That question keeps me on my toes and fuels my writing energy.
