Hezron Insights is a Nairobi-based research and knowledge platform founded by strategic communication professional and researcher Hezron Ochiel.

We examine how artificial intelligence, search, media and strategic communication are changing what gets found, understood, trusted, cited and recommended.

Our work focuses on AI visibility, digital authority, strategic communication, research communication, Digital PR and the visibility of African knowledge.

At the centre of this work is a simple question: Why does credible expertise sometimes remain difficult to find while weaker information travels much further?

That question matters as people increasingly rely on search engines, AI assistants, media and digital platforms to decide what — and whom — to trust.

Original research is central to Hezron Insights. We use data, audits and experiments to understand what is happening rather than relying only on commentary.

Our flagship study, the African Humanitarian AI Citation Index (AHACI), analysed 1,083 verifiable citations across ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek and Perplexity in ten African countries. Only 5.5% of citations were country-local, while 68.8% came from United Nations agencies and other multilateral organisations. The study introduced citation localisation to examine whose knowledge becomes visible when AI explains humanitarian crises.
